Much of contemporary Christianity has taught believers to distrust the body, suppress emotions, and oppose “flesh” to spirit, leaving many fragmented and disconnected from their hearts, God’s voice, and their God-given sexuality. Scripture affirms we are fearfully and wonderfully made—embodied souls revealing God’s presence. This workshop explores integrating mind, body, emotion, sexuality, and spirit through theology, interpersonal neurobiology, and embodied practices, cultivating deeper intimacy with God, self, and others, and restoring the body as a sacred place of healing and wholeness.
Professional Learning Objectives:
Describe how disembodied theology and mistrust of emotions have contributed to fragmentation in Christian views of sexuality and spirituality.
Identify the interconnection between mind, body, emotion, and spirit from both theological and neurobiological perspectives.
Practice embodied spiritual exercises that cultivate integration and foster deeper connection with self, others, and God.
